It's BBQ season


The British summer is almost upon us – and with it the BBQ season!


National BBQ Week, which this year takes place from 29th May to 4th June, is about to celebrate its 21st birthday, having first been introduced to us all in 1997. It’s definitely been a major force in the growth of the UK’s BBQ culture since that date, although it doesn’t seem to have any influence on the weather!

This year it’s urging everyone to ‘go for the grill’ (rather than ‘go for the burn’ we suppose) and encouraging pubs and clubs, restaurants, hotels, and street food vendors to incorporate Grill Thrills and Gastro Grilling into their food offering.

How caterers interpret Grill Thrills and Gastro Grilling is up to them (we think!) but it is a great marketing exercise. Last year’s heavyweight media campaign reached almost 28 million consumers (nearly half the UK population). This year will see no let-up in media focus – there will be at last 200 items in the news, nationally and regionally, plus more than 50 competitions.

Having a BBQ creates a fun, party atmosphere – whatever the weather. It’s ideal for bringing in new customers of all ages, popular with family groups, and, with the right ingredients, simple to accomplish.

We’ve got everything you need –  food, accompaniments, disposables – so embrace the BBQ culture, stage an event and have some outdoor fun!
