Make a Proper Brew

Back

Whether bringing diners a steaming hot mug of tea or giving customers a quick brew for on-the-go, we’d like to show food service businesses across the country how you can make a cup of tea as special an experience as possible.

At Taylors of Harrogate, home of the UK’s number one brew, Yorkshire Tea, we pride ourselves on doing things properly, showing care and respect to people and the planet along the way.

To make your brew the best it can be, we’re sharing some top tips from one of our expert Tea Tasters, Henry. Here’s his advice:

  1. Serve a high-quality tea that gives your guests the same great taste as the brew they’d drink at home. At Yorkshire Tea, all our bags contain the same weight of tea, ensuring every mug - at-home or away - has the same flavour and strength they know and love.
  2. Brew with fresh water, just off the boil, to maximise the flavour
  3. Be patient - a good cup of tea takes three to five minutes to stew to its prime.
  4. If you’re boiling a kettle, only fill the amount of water you need. Kettles are pretty power-hungry and one-third of the carbon footprint of making a brew comes from boiling them. So only filling the kettle with the amount of water that it takes to fill a mug can make a big difference in many ways. It can reduce your carbon footprint, making it much kinder to the planet, can help reduce energy bills, and also make your brew that much quicker and fresher – which is always a good thing!
  5. Add the milk in last so as not to lower the temperature of your brew while it’s infusing.

Enjoy!
