A Celebration of British Lamb

Who can recall the TV advertising campaign, with Geoffrey Palmer clad in a stripy pinny, urging us to ‘Slam in the Lamb’? Would you believe it was over 30 years ago?

British Lamb

Now the younger generation are being encouraged to eat lamb in a campaign led by the National Sheep Association (NSA) Next Generation Ambassadors – young sheep farmers who are passionate about their work producing premium British lamb for consumption.

Love Lamb Week, originally founded by Cumbrian sheep farmer Rachel Lumley, is now in its 3rd year and runs from 1st to 7th September 2017 – the beginning of the peak season for British lamb.

Working with the AHDB (Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board) for Beef & Lamb the campaign aims to communicate the versatility of lamb through a dedicated week of promotional activity.

Inspirational new recipes using lamb have been created – including lamb keema, teriyaki lamb stir fry, lamb Caesar salad and lamb steaks with herb and pepper rub – which show just how easy and adaptable lamb is.

Consumers are being encouraged to join in on social media using the hashtags #lovelambweek and #lovelamb. There’s a dedicated Twitter account @LoveBritishLamb and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/LoveLambWeek/ through which people can share images and recipes of all things lamb & delicious.

If you’re wanting to be part of Love Lamb Week then check out Total Foodservice’s range of fresh, locally sourced, lamb products. We’ll be joining in the activity too, so make sure you share and tag us @Total_Food_Serv and https://www.facebook.com/totalfoodserviceuk to spread the word that British lamb’s the best!
