Coffee to grow

Coffee

Would you believe that last year UK consumers spent almost £8 billion on drinking coffee outside the home?

And that was up by 10% on the previous year?

It’s estimated (by the Allegra World Coffee Portal) that there now more than 20,700 coffee shops in the UK – with the market leader selling 169 million cups a year.

While it might seem dominated by the big brands, the share of UK coffee market is fairly equally split, with independents accounting for 30% of out of home coffee sales, and pubs, fast food outlets and supermarkets 39%.

And, according to predictions, there will be more than 30,000 coffee outlets in the UK by 2025, bringing in a turnover of £15 billion.

Along with market growth, the desire for better quality coffee is also increasing.

We might be famed as a nation of tea drinkers, but the British are fast becoming coffee connoisseurs. Consumers now want to know more about the product – where it’s from, how it’s produced and how to taste it – and they’re getting more discerning about the flavour too.

To help you capitalise on coffee’s growing popularity by making sure you serve great coffee to your customers, Total Foodservice’s Caffe Dolce range uses beans sourced from coffee producers around the world. Expertly roasted and blended they create the perfect basis for a variety of methods of coffee making.

For excellent filter & cafetiere coffee we recommend Supremo, which uses 100% Arabica beans from Brazil, Colombia & Costa Rica to create a smooth, full bodied finish.

Or for those who prefer whole coffee beans for making the perfect espresso, cappuccino or latte – choose from our Roma, Napoli or Classico blends.
